Profile and Contents

Mexican Studies / Estudios Mexicanos aims at promoting the linkage among researchers from all disciplines, and enhancing the collaborations which may contribute effectively to the understanding of the cultural, historical, polítical, social, economic or scientific factors that affect Mexican development.

Target Public

Its intended audience includes academics interested in research relating to Mexico and the Mexicans, with a multi and interdisciplinary view.

History

Mexican Studies / Estudios Mexicanos
is a joint project of the Mexican Studies Institute for Mexico and the United States of the University of California and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, with the support of the Coordinación de Humanidades. It was first published in 1982 by Jaime E. Rodríguez of the University of California, Irvine and by Roberto Moreno de los Arcos, the former director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Históricas (UNAM). The first issue appeared in January, 1985. Mexican Studies / Estudios Mexicanos is, since its beginnings, a forum for the presentation and discussion of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research on Mexico and about Mexicans. It may be systematic, interpretative, analytical or theoretical, but must address issues that are important for the Nation.
