Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica publishes original research papers on all areas of astronomy, astrophysics, and related issues, with prior evaluation by specialists. Two numbers apper yearly and its distribution is free to all institutions related to the fields covered by it.

Target Public

Its intended audience includes institutions, researchaers and students interested in all areas of astronomy, astrophysics and related fieds.


The journal was first published in 1974. Up until 1994, it published the memoires of meetings held in Mexico and other countries of the American continent as special volumes. Since 1995, Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (lecture series) is dedicated to the publication of the memoirs of the said meetings.

In September, 2009, the journal was awarded a recognition by Thomson Reuters and the Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional-IPN, as the scientific journal with the greatest impact.
