Profile and Contents

Tip aims to disseminate information specializing in botany and zoology, ecology, microbiology, biochemistry and physical chemistry, pharmacy, general, organic, inorganic, molecular and industrial chemistry, etc. Editorial efforts have resulted in the consolidation of an editorial staff managing specialized editions. Its workings are the evaluation of scientific documents and administration of scientific journals, exchange of scientific publications with other academic institutions, both locally and abroad, and occupying a space in the publishing niche of scientific literature in the Latin American area.
It is important to mention that Tip counts among the members of its editorial board and editorial committee with scientists who are mostly members of the national system of researchers, from level I to level III. Two Nobel laureates are included as representative voices, one of them recently deceased, Norman Borlaug, considered pioneer of the green revolution. It is also worth highlighting that published articles pertain largely to renowned authors and, occasionally, present results of duly assessed degree theses.

Target Public

The journal is destined to researchers, academics and students of the Multidisciplinary School for Higher Studies Zaragoza as an option to publish in their own language in order to publicize the research that is carried out in this institution, but also to foreign and regional research centres for enriching research experience.

In the early nineties of the past century, the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Zaragoza, UNAM was the home for a project called Programa Editorial, which sought to be a vehicle for disseminating scientific articles. This project arose from the Subsystem of Graduate Studies, Academic Research and Development (Coepida) which, with funding from the Graduate Studies Divisions Support Program (PAPED) and coordinated by the Graduate and Reserach Secretariat, first printed the journal TIP Tópicos de Investigación y Posgrado, was first published in September, 1989. This journal was reorganised in 1997 with the purpose of defining its profile by the specific area of expertise, and was then announced as Tip. Revista Especializada en Ciencias Químico-Biológicas, only retaining the acronym Tip from its original name. This occurred still as Programa Editorial at the former Research Division, which in 1998 became the División de Estudios de Posgrado e investigación y Programa Editorial, year in which the fisrt issue of the new journal appeared.

Achievements and Awards

Tip copies are sent to libraries, institutions, museums, universities, and scientific societies in Mexico City and in the Mexican Republic, and in Central America, South America, the United States and Canada, and only in some locations in Europe and Asia. Exchange conventions and donations of books and journals have resulted with several institutions, receiving approximately 130 titles, mostly addressing the areas of interest for this School, and which are to be found in the libraries of the campus. In addition, Kimberly-Clark of Mexico, S. A. de C. V. donated paper to print the interior pages of volume 2, number 2 (1999), and vol. 3, no. 1 (2000). We should also point out the donation of paper by Imprenta Negrante destined to printing the interior pages of Vol. 2, no. 2 (1999) and the monetary donation for printing Tip vol. 9, no. 1 (2006). Finally, the journal occupies a space in the publishing niche of scientific publications in Latin America for its original and high scientific impact scientific contributions.
